This Week's guest of Aesthetic Conversations with Newlyme is Cenk Teker MDThis week, Otolaryngologist Cenk Teker MD was the guest. Dr. Teker gave information about nasal structure, rhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty.Click here for the pleasant conversation we had with Cenk Teker MD.Nasal Breath Represents Humidified Air“Breathe through the nose taught in childhood, we used to hear. This saying is very true. Nasal breathing represents humidified air.If it is -10 degrees outside and +40 degrees outside, our nose adjusts our breathing to 36.5 degrees. The nose is an organ that performs thermoregulation very well, filters large particles and humidifies the air.”Deciding on Open or Closed Nose JobStating that the open and closed rhinoplasty, which confuses the patients, is determined according to both the surgeon and the patient's nose structure, Dr. Cenk Teker added that they had long conversations with the patient while deciding on this, and that the patient's expectations should be fully learned.Piezzo and 3D ModelingThe piezzo and 3D models that we came across while doing research on rhinoplasty.Dr. Teker stated that the piezzo is a device used by many surgeons, and it prevents bruising in rhinoplasty as it can cut the bone without breaking it.Thinking that it is a good method to show the patients the postoperative image with 3D modeling before the surgery, Dr. Cenk Teker added that after the surgery, a much more beautiful nose emerged than the nose shown in the modeling most of the time.50% Of My Cases Are RevisionOtolaryngologist Dr. Cenk Teker, regarding revision rhinoplasty; 50% of my patients are revision rhinoplasty patients.Re-operation on noses that have not been successful due to the patient or physician is a revision rhinoplasty. The most important thing in revision surgeries is cartilage. When cartilage is from our own body, they adapt easily. There is also something called cartilage memory. The best cartilage is taken from the rib.If the patient does not want to give his own cartilage, rib cartilage can also be used, but this increases the cost of the surgery.Happy listening!
