What are the Rhinoplasty Solutions of Thick Skin Noses?

Each nose has different characteristics. Therefore, the shape and results of the surgery in a rhinoplasty differ depending on the structure of the nose.

In addition to the bone and cartilage tissue that makes up the structure of the nose, the skin on it also affects the course and results of the surgery. The nose surgery process of a person with a thick-skinned nose works differently than a person with a thin-skinned nose.

The details of the subject, we talked to Naser Dadaszade, MD. He told us why thick-skinned noses are different.

How Is Nose Surgery Performed in Thick-Skinned Noses?

burun ameliyatı“Nose aesthetics are the procedures we perform under the skin. For this reason, the structure of the skin on it is of great importance in order to see the result of a rhinoplasty.

We apply a series of extra procedures to our thick-skinned patients before the operation so that the underlying process can be seen more clearly. These procedures allow the nasal skin to become thinner and the results of the surgery to be more effective.

One of these processes is the creams we use to thin the skin. Thanks to their skin-thinning properties, these creams make the thick nasal skin more ready for surgery.

Of course, it is not possible to provide exactly the same features as a thin-skinned person, but this type of procedure still provides a better appearance after surgery.

Apart from creams, we can make the results of rhinoplasty more satisfactory with some different methods that we apply during the surgery.

For example, we can provide more effective results by making the skeleton more prominent.”

What Are The Results Of Surgery In Thick-skinned Noses?

rhinoplasty“Surgical interventions in thick-skinned noses give different results than thin-skinned noses.

In a thin-skinned nose, the slightest movement is reflected in the nose shape, while the surgical touches we make on thick-skinned noses provide different results.

In a thin-skinned nose, we reduce the cartilage tissue, but in a thick-skinned nose, we kind of enlarge the nasal structure. That is, we change the structure of the nose by adding extra cartilage tissue.

Today, thanks to the development of the techniques used during and before the nose surgery, we are now getting more successful results.

Thick-skinned nose surgeries and thin-skinned nose surgeries do not give the same results, but we can still obtain satisfactory appearances in thick-skinned noses.”

What Is The Difference Between Thick-Skinned Nose Surgery and Thin-Skinned Nose Surgery?

burun estetiği“Choosing the appropriate technique is very important when performing nose surgeries. The difference between the two skin types causes this technique to be different.

As we mentioned in the previous question, we enlarge the nose in a thick-skinned nose, but we operate on a thin-skinned nose by reducing the cartilage tissue of the nose.

At the same time, while no preliminary preparation is required for thin-nosed surgeries, we apply a series of procedures to change the structure of the skin before operating on thick-skinned noses.”

“While swelling is more intense in thin-skinned noses during the healing process, it is less in thick-skinned noses.

Since thin-skinned noses show even the smallest mistake from the outside, we have to act very meticulously in surgical interventions. This risk is lower in thick-skinned noses.

In thin-skinned noses, the final appearance of the nose appears within 12-18 months. This period may be longer in thick-skinned noses.

“People with thin noses are usually of European and Caucasian descent, while those with thick noses are mostly of African, Southeast Asian, and Hispanic descent.

It is possible to perform aesthetic surgeries with successful and satisfactory results for both nose structures. The most important issue here is to analyze the nose type correctly and to apply the most appropriate surgical technique.”
