Things to Consider Before Hair Transplantation
There are some points that need to be done and followed in the hair transplant operation to be more successful and to get a better result. Emphair Hair Transplantation Center explains these important points:
“There are some dos and don'ts before hair transplantation. We always explain to our patients that they should follow the instructions carefully, otherwise it will affect the procedure itself and, in some cases, may cause some post-procedure complications that will negatively affect the results. If the patient has difficulty in following the instructions for any reason or has not done so, he must notify us before hair transplantation.
If we look at the hair transplant instructions in general, we would like to know if there is another surgery planned 8 weeks before or during the following 8 weeks.
Moreover, if there was any surgery or hospitalization due to an important health problem such as a heart attack in the year before the hair transplant, it is useful to mention this because we may need to take special precautions based on your medical history.
Nutrition Before Hair Transplant Operation
We do hair transplantation under local anesthesia at Emphair. For this reason, it would be good to come with a light breakfast beforehand.
Hair transplant surgery is done with lidocaine, a local anesthetic similar to that used in the dentist's office. In this case, it is important to have food in your stomach. Because;
Your blood sugar stays the same throughout the procedure, the lidocaine anesthetic takes longer to metabolize, you need less lidocaine and therefore you experience very little swelling after the procedure.
That's why it's important to eat. But if a hair transplant is going to be done under general anesthesia, you should not eat anything before 12 months.
Things To Consider 1 Week Before Hair Transplant
Here are the instructions that you should pay attention to 1 week in advance:
Alcohol use should be stopped at least 5 days before the surgery. Otherwise, the quality of the operation will decrease due to the thinning effect of these substances on the blood.
Smoking should be reduced as much as possible at least 7 days before the surgery.
In chronic diseases (blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, etc.) you should continue to use the drugs that you need to use daily until the day of the operation.
Avoid consuming coffee and caffeinated beverages (cola, tea, etc.).
Avoid drinking green tea at least one week before surgery.
Before the operation, the use of blood thinners and anticoagulants (aspirin, etc.) should be limited, as is the case with alcohol, and if possible, these drugs should not be used one week before the surgery. Apart from this, the use of compulsory therapeutic drugs can be continued.
However, if the doctor prescribes the use of drugs used as blood thinners before the procedure, it should be discontinued with his/her approval. These drugs can be vital. This should be decided by your doctor.
Things To Consider On The morning Of Hair Transplant
While coming from the operation, no product containing chemical substances such as medicine or lotion should be applied or used on the scalp and hair.
On the day of the operation, a light breakfast should be preferred and one should come to the hospital by wearing large clothes that can be easily put on and taken off.
We recommend not using a vehicle after the operation, so it would be good to have someone accompany you after the application.”
