Should You Choose Fat Transfer or Breast Implants For Breast Augmentation?
Breast augmentation is one of the cosmetic surgery that women prefer to make them feel better, happier and better carry the decollete clothes they wear.
These operations are applied to people whose breasts were removed due to thinking that the breasts are small in breast aesthetics, shrinkage of the breasts due to excessive weight loss, shrinkage of the tissue after breastfeeding during pregnancy, genetic reasons, breast disorders as a result of accidents or breast cancer.
Breast augmentation operations, which are the most demanded among breast aesthetic surgeries, are performed using many different techniques today.
In the classical sense, in addition to the enlargement of the breast by placing an artificial prosthesis on the breast, fat transfer applications to the breast are frequently performed.
We asked plastic Surgeon Samil Yazgan MD in which cases fat transfer to the breast and when to implant the breast is applied:
“Many people think that implants are the only option for breast augmentation, but it is not. Fat transfer is one of the treatments used for breast augmentation.
In the transfer of fat to the breast, we first remove the fat from a part of the body through liposuction and after processing it, we provide the transfer.
Today, this procedure can be used for breast augmentation alone, or in combination with a breast implant, as a way to reconstruct breast tissue for a more natural appearance or for women who have lost a breast mass due to cancer.
There are Benefits to Using Fat Cells
There are benefits of fat transfer to the breast, that is, using your own fat cells. When foreign bodies such as implants are placed in the body, they bring the risk of capsule formation, albeit minimal.
On the other hand, fat transfer is relatively smooth and safe. But with fat transfer, we can give volume to the breast up to a certain extent. If you want a breast size of 2 or 3 cups, we cannot provide this with fat transfer to the breast.
How Big Breast Do You Want?
But remember, bigger breast is not always better. For this reason, you should think about your ideal breast size. If you want a significant increase in your breast, you should definitely discuss this with your doctor.
Unlike the implant, fat transfer will only provide growth and fullness as much as the volume of the breast tissue. There may be a minimal erection in breast implants, but this does not happen in fat transfer.
The Fat Will Melt
There melting of the fat transferred to the breast, or your breast size will change within the framework of this fluctuation depending on whether you gain or lose weight.
On the contrary, in breast implants, the breast remains consistent in size, that is, it does not change. In addition, breast implants provide a harder and more upright breast tissue appearance.
Whether it is fat transfer to the breast or breast silicone, remember that only an expert plastic surgeon can give you the necessary information you need to make an informed decision.
While evaluating your options, we examine what your ultimate goal is, the breast size you want to achieve, your daily lifestyle, and your health history, and then we determine which surgical method is most suitable for you.”
