Is Bichectomy The New BBL? Which Celebrity Did It?

Lea Michele, Amelia Hamlin, and Sophie Turner's faces are now sharper, fueling speculation that they have undergone cheek liposuction, or bichectomy.

So what are the pros and cons of this popular procedure?

Buccal liposuction is nothing new, but there is no doubt that the demand for this procedure has increased in recent years.

On TikTok you will find many clips of young women removing fat from their "chubby" cheeks to achieve a more edgy and toned look.

Like Bella Hadid, her sharp jawline, prominent cheekbones, and contoured face have become the beauty standard, at least on social media and Hollywood.

Are you ready to take a look at the before and after of all these celebrities?

Pros and Cons of Cheek Fat Removal

buccal fatAs influencers and celebrities transition from plump cheeks to a more sculpted look, more young women are tempted to do the same.

How is a Bichectomy Done?

bichectomyDuring the procedure, the surgeon will make an incision through your mouth on either side of your cheeks to expose your buccal fat pads.

It presses on the fat pads so that they can be removed, i.e. pushing them out. Once this is done, the incisions are closed with sutures.

What Can Happen After a Bichectomy?

after bichectomyInevitably, as you age, your cheeks gradually lose fat over time. This could mean, for example, that if you had this procedure in your 20s, you might look significantly older by the time you reach your 30s.

The fuller look on the face gives you a younger look and this is why older celebrities who want to maintain their image often get fillers.

Facial fat compartments do indeed decrease with age.

In most cases, you shouldn't take oil on the cheeks except for those with a really full face, as doing so can cause premature aging and long-term deterioration of the midface.

In fact, we can say that facial fat is valuable because it's the only area of the human body where we really don't want to lose a lot of fat.

Plastic surgery seems like an endless loop. We've seen this over and over with celebrities.

The worst part is that many of these stars do not disclose their procedures, leading young women to believe they are genetically problematic.

While I love aesthetics, I believe we need to focus more on improving others, teaching them to see the good in our current self, to fully accept and love themselves no matter the situation.

Let's not care too much about ever-changing trends and societal standards
