How Can I Stop Dandruff and Hair Fall in This Season?
We are in the transition season, the weather is warm and cold… But the cold is not over yet and we need to protect ourselves from the cold.
We all take extra care to give warmth and comfort to the body, and hair also needs this care. Dandruff and hair loss are the most common problems in this transitional season.
We asked the doctors of Emphair Hair Transplantation Center how to stop the problem of dandruff and hair loss:
How Does Cold Weather Affect Hair?
Just like skin, hair health also changes as the seasons change. The winter air is quite dry, which absorbs all the moisture from the scalp. This causes a dry and itchy scalp.
Dry scalp means dandruff and more hair loss than normal. Hair loss results in dry hair being easily damaged and broken. In summary, extra care is required to prevent dandruff and hair loss.
How to Fight Dandruff and Hair Loss in Winter?
Be gentle with your hair, especially when combing it right after you wash it, reminding again that your hair is drier than normal in the winter.
It is best not to comb wet hair immediately. Instead, let it dry a bit and then let it dry on its own instead of using a dryer. Use a wide-toothed comb with widely spaced flat coated teeth.
While combing, hold the hair from below and gently open the ends. Slowly raise your hands up and brush the hair in small pieces.
Avoid Coloring and Bleaching
Bleaching, bleaching or dyeing is harmful to hair as they penetrate the hair shaft and break down your hair's fatty acids and natural proteins. It's best to avoid as much as possible.
Pay Attention to Hairstyles
It is harmful to collect the hair tightly with a band or hairpin. Same with very tight braids… Instead, opt for open hairstyles.
Use natural fabric bands instead of rubber bands, as the rubber bands will pull and tear the hair as you remove it.
Hair Washing Routine
In the dry weather of winter, the best way to keep dry and normal hair moist is to use conditioner and care. But try not to get the conditioner on the scalp.
Unfortunately, damaged, split ends become tangled and cause more hair loss. Hair can be cut every 6 weeks, so you are free from damaged, split ends.
Healthy Hair Needs a Healthy Diet
Foods rich in iron, vitamin D, vitamin C and sometimes vitamin A are important for healthy hair. Especially Biotin is very good for healthy hair and nails.
Don't Get Thirsty
Most people do not drink enough water in the winter. But drinking plenty of water keeps you hydrated from the inside.
Wash Hair With Warm Water
Too much hot water will damage the hair and cause a lot of hair loss while drying.
Make sure the water temperature is lukewarm. Also limit the use of curling irons and other styling equipment.
Prefer Cotton Towels
There are many synthetic towels on the market, but they can roughen the scalp and cause dandruff. It is best to use pure cotton towels.
Try Sugar Substitutes
Consuming foods high in sugar increases dandruff on the scalp. You can meet your sugar needs from fruit or honey.”
