Don't Make These 7 Mistakes After Hair Transplant
Hair transplantation is a treatment that has remained popular for the last 5 years.
In fact, this is not all that surprising because it has a relatively high patient satisfaction rate and offers patients natural-looking, long-lasting results.
Although the recovery experience varies from person to person, some activities and habits need to be abandoned for a certain period of time.
Emphair Hair Transplantation Center explains 7 mistakes to avoid to help achieve the best possible results after hair transplantation:
1. Do Not Cut or Dye Your Hair
It is best to wait three weeks before cutting your hair, so as not to disturb the follicles. It is very important to keep both areas clean for healing.
It can be a little difficult to protect from this situation while cutting or dyeing the hair. The chemicals used may adversely affect the survival of the graft.
2. Do Not Use Styling Products
Avoid styling products as well as topical products or medications that promote hair growth, as they can interfere with keeping the recipient area clean.
Although the exact timing varies from patient to patient, you should generally avoid styling products for about 2 weeks.
3. Do Not Train Intensely
Exercise should be avoided for at least 7 to 10 days after FUE hair transplantation. It is best to be gentle right after surgery, as grafts are still delicate and can be dislodged by any activity.
4. Do Not Sit In The Sun
When hair follicles are newly placed, we want to keep them moist. If they are exposed to the sun for too long, it can cause the hair follicles to dry out.
In addition, sun exposure in the transplanted area may cause hyperpigmentation until the hair grows during healing.
5. Do Not Wear Tight Hats
Tight hats, wigs worn to camouflage the hair transplant can also damage the results of the hair transplant.
6. Let The Team Do The First Wash
Do not do the first wash. If the 'holes' are relatively loose when the hair follicle is inserted, washing your hair too soon can cause them to fall out.
Washing your hair too soon can cause water to pool in the area and cause edema. This can affect and potentially prolong the healing process. It is better if we do the first wash ourselves.
7. Don't Be Too Careful
It can be quite stressful to act and worry about your transplanted hair all the time.
Sometimes patients are too afraid to touch the grafts and therefore neglect post-operative instructions, resulting in increased crusting.
When crusts form normally and expectedly, patients should gently clean the area so that the crusts soften and fall off faster.
Grafts are relatively safe and difficult to dislodge after the first three days after the procedure. It is best to calm down during this period and then enjoy life while you wait for the hair growth to occur.
