The marketing of plastic surgery has experienced tremendous changes in the last 10 years despite the pandemic.

Due to the profusion of plastic surgery procedures in online searches, the emergence of TikTok as a platform to market plastic surgeons, and the rising costs of PPC advertising, cosmetic surgery marketing trends have changed unpredictably.

Online Marketing Continues to Overtake Outdoor Advertising

online marketing20 years ago, plastic surgery marketing consisted largely of outdoor advertising such as billboards, radio, print and television in many foreign countries, although not so much in Turkey.

While there is no published data on digital ad spend by plastic surgeons, the IAB has published a study showing a 12% increase in digital ad spend during the pandemic.

This study seems to apply to plastic surgeons, too, many of whom have never spent any money on advertising, but have started to advertise as interest in digital marketing grows. 

The difficulty of measuring the return on investment of outdoor advertising is often displeased by some plastic surgeons, but digital marketing has eliminated this problem because we can measure everything digitally.

Given the measurability of digital marketing, many plastic surgeons have begun or are considering testing different digital marketing channels, most of which have never advertised before.

Moreover, most of the plastic surgeons we met in Newlyme in 2020 and 2021 had never spent any money on digital marketing before. But as we said, as of 2022, this situation has changed.
